Associate Professor, PhDr. Tomas Surý, ArtD. is a graduate of the Faculty of Humanities University of Trnava, studying the history of art and culture (1992-1997, rigorous test 2007) and the Faculty of Music and Dance at University of Music and Drama Arts in Bratislava, Opera Director (2001-2006). A graduate of the Public School of Music (1990-1994), studying the piano. A graduate of Doctorate Studies in music theory at the Faculty of Music and Dance at University of Music and Drama Arts in Bratislava (2008). He is devoted to the history and aesthetics of music and drama genres, especially opera 17.-19. century, the medieval iconography, Christian imagery, and a Franciscan art 13th and 15th century. He works at the Commenius University of the Third Age University and the Faculty of Performing Arts at University of Music and Drama Arts in Bratislava. He regularly holds public lectures on the history of opera, theater and visual arts.

Overview art production:
• In 1994-97, he worked in amateur theater Tŕpava in Trnava, performed in the play Conversion of Paul (Vlado Janček).
• He is the author of several theater plays: in 1995 he has directed his play, Margita and Besná – fit in three parts (five scenes) on the fight of two women for an inefficient man (Trnava, theatre group Tŕpava) and in 2001 staged in the theater festival For Gagarin his play I am leaving the ground, I am going to heaven (Bratislava, the open-air performances at the monument to Yuri Gagarin Račianskom Mýte).
